IMPACT PROGRAM
IMPACT PROGRAM
ENROLLMENT OPENED
12:30 PM NOVEMBER 17, 2005
Dear Community Partners
As Director of the Impact
Program, I am pleased to announce that as of 12:30 pm,
Thursday, November 17, 2005, we have reached an agreement with
the State of California Department of Health Services to
reopen enrollment in the Program. Impact staff began
enrolling men from our waitlist this afternoon. It has been a
long and hard fought battle to save the Impact Program. On
behalf of the men served by Impact, I extend my sincere thanks
to you for making this possible. You raised your voice on
behalf of the low income, uninsured men served by Impact and
it was heard. Your ongoing support and commitment to Impact’s
mission is what saved the Program.
Congratulations!

CPCC
As chairman of the Impact
Committee of the California Prostate Cancer Coalition, I thank
you for your unrelenting support of the Impact Program. You
are the individuals who made this battle successful. Impact
will be funded by the full $2.4 million authorized by the
Legislature and signed by the Governor for the Budget year
2005-06. There were over 150 men on the waitlist, and they
will all be treated along with as many additional eligible men
to be enrolled as the funding will allow. Each enrollee is
guaranteed 12 months treatment if needed under the Program.
The Legislation also requires
an evaluation and rebid of the Program, which is to be in
place by July 1, 2006. The Governor indicated $3.0 million be
appropriated for the 2006-07 Budget Year.
Your CPCC Impact Committee will
continue to monitor the Program to see that the Legislation is
carried out as authorized by Impact Program Contractor and the
California Department of Health Services.
Thank you for your support.

VOLUNTEERS IN SACRAMENTO AREA FOR
IMPACT COMMITTEE
We need volunteers to work on the Impact
Committee walking the halls of
the Capitol. CPCC wants to be visible
in the Capitol so that the Legislators know
us by sight.
Currently we have only one individual
living in the Sacramento area, so this
means a lot of travel for the others at
considerable expense to CPCC. We
would like to make our dollars go as far
as possible and hence, are asking
for volunteers to join our committee.
Our current committee is made up of three
retired prostate cancer survivors,
ranging in age from 65 to 77, so you can
see why we are asking for your help.
You help would be sincerely
appreciated.
